Classic Stories from Day 1 - 2006 Bassmaster Classic

If Day 1 is a glimpse of what we are in store for, this Bassmasters Classic will go down as an all time slug fest - Big Bass Bonanza!  Here are a couple story lines I see from Day 1.

Dateline Palataka, FL: Preston Clark emerges from Terry "Big Show" Scroggins' shadow.  Everyone talked about Terry Scroggins and Terry's long time tournament pattern is the one who puts the smack down on the big bass.  Total weight of 29-01 : anchored by a 11-10 giant!

Luke Clausen may have just proven that his 2004 FLW Championship was no Fluke, lets see if he can keep it up and make push come day 3.  Luke clings to a slim 5oz lead with 29-06

Ike freaks & gets DQ'd.  It looks like he wants to make a push in next year's GQ list and wants to improve on this years list where he was ranked as the 6th most hated Professional Athlete.  He was DQ'd for flipping out on his running lights, probably should have DQ'd for releasing a dead fish.

Rick Clunn boats a 10-10 monster on a spinnerbait.  It took him 2 hands to lift it, he was shaking like a kid that catches his first bass, that is what it is all about.

KVD sits on the cut bubble in 25th place: Total Weight 14-02.  He needs another solid limit to make the cut, but he miss the cut swinging for the fences, because another limit like that will likely leave him out of range on Day 3, cut or no cut.

Brace yourself for day 2, will the monster weights continue or will they start to tail off.  It is really dependent on the weather and the stage of the big females.  If the spawn phase is fading so will the weights, if more females are making the push, then it could turn into a parade of giant females making their way to the scale and just about everybody is still in it.
