Cool Swimbait Website - SwimBait Nation

Ever since my spring trip to Lake Amistad, I have been extra interested in SwimBaits.  The Pros absolutely smoked the big bass down there on them.  I think that there has to be a time & place for some of the moderate sized swimbaits here in MN.  So that leads me to the coolest swim bait website I have found.  SwimBaitNation.com

They have reviews, videos, forums and a store where you can check out just about every swimbait out there.  Castaic Baits, The Huddleston, 3:16 Lures (Mission Fish, No Bull Frog), Optimum Baits and many more.  The coolest part is the downloadable videos of different baits so you can see their action before you buy.  I am definitely going to experiment with some swim bait in Minnesota Lakes this summer.

Enjoy!

Dear Mr. Lindgren, I would like to read an article about the temperatures at which different species spawn at. Also, do you have access to any websites that would relay the current water temperatures of particular lakes? I am going to the fishing opener in WI this weekend and would like to know what the current status is of lakes around the Chetek area. Your prompt response if appreciated. Thanks!! Basshunter Bus

      Hey Bus,

Thanks for the inquiry.  The only species that I keep track of as far as spawning temps are Largemouth & Smallmouth Bass.  They tend to spawn between 60-65F depending on individual lakes and lunar cycles.  Bluegills spawn after the bass, northerns & walleyes spawn much earlier.  There is usually a good crappie bite in most lakes in this area this time of year, due to spawning activities and just being up in the shallows for feeding.  Northerens also tend to cruise shallow bays looking for easy prey this time of year.  I have a couple good sites & forums for local & lake specific info.

Lake-Link.com & FishingMinnesota.com.  Many times you can find water temps & fishing reports already posted by fellow anglers, if you do not see it, post a new article and someone usually responds.

Chetek specific thread - Sounds like the crappies are hitting pretty decent on the chain right now.

      Later,
      Rich
