Got the itch...

Anybody noticed all these silly looking multicolored bar code looking things in all the fishing magazine these days? Well if not or you have and have no clue why, read on. They are “Electronic Tags” and are a relative;y new and cool new way to connect print media or any other visual media with Digital media. These tag barcodes are embedded with a URL or a link to a video, website, or pretty much anything you can think of…
Curious, how it works, simply download the FREE application or “App” from the website http://gettag.mobi or download from your appropriate App Store. You can even test on the Tags in this article. First will bring you to a Strike King Ad other will bring you to a YouTube video demo of how to use the tags with my Blackberry.Interestingly enough, two large fishing and outdoor companies are embracing this technology. See my YouTube video demonstrating how these tags work.
From a consumer’s perspective, these technologies get me excited. Just think, if this technology becomes widely accepted and embraced, consumers could scan small tags off of the package, download customer reviews, video ads, much more then you could ever fit on a package. So you scan a code on a new lure, get straight talk from the pro that invented it in video form or even get an instant coupon.
I think they are cool, do you? Or a huge waste of time?

The QR Codes are a great way for any Smartphone user to quickly access on-line content. And a bar code scanner is probably one of the first apps every new smartphone user downloads! So why is BM Mag going with these funky Microsoft codes that require an additional install of the Microsoft scanner? I'm going to guess that a lot of Android users will be hesitant and I'll bet that most Apple users simply won't do it. When my barcode scanner (that works on every other generic bar/QR code) didn't work, I was ticked and chose not to install the MS Mobi Tag app. Bad move on mags part; IMO.

Hmm, I downloaded the MS Tag reader before any other on my Crackberry. I actually thing the scans are more reliable since downloading the QR scanner. What's one more app?
I don't think it's all Bassmaster, I think companies like Strike King & Pure Fishing led the charge in those periodicals.

Not sure what's on android vs. iPhone vs. Blackberry, but I think ScanLife is on all of them and that reads all the codes; I think. I use "Barcode Scanner v3.53" but that's pure Android.
ShopSavy is just the regular barcode scanner, but handy when you're in a store like Target or Dick's and want to compare prices.

My work schedule is about the same. I am too busy to go. I miss the days when all I cared about was having enough to make the rent and a little food and of course enough for gas to go fishing. Life seemed a lot more simple then.
Maybe that is why I am so stressed out all the time is I don't get to go fishing.
