This is the Upper Miss and it aint that deep. You were catching em because the warm water discharge is upstream and manipulates their activity. Nice fish, glad John Stears report helped ya out.

Truthfully, the though never crossed my mind. FEAR NO FISH!!! LOL!!
But now that you mention it, I have rarely caught any northerns around Bluegill beds, which is weird, because a northern pike likes to much on juvenile panfish as much as bass do, interesting obeservation in retrospect

That's a good lookin' lure - I love throwing that type of a lure this time of year. When the weather gets real hot over here it's just about the only thing that'll work.

Thanks for the comment, I fixed your link so readers could find your article!! Never tried a Pfleuger, Love all my Shimanos!! I only bought one of the Curado D series, and that was because I wanted the burner model which they never had in the old green Bantam series

I wrote http://lateral-lines.com/index.cfm/id/Requiem_for_a_Baitcaster, about my disappointment back in 2006 when they, IMHO, decided to price gouge on the name that had built a solid reputation for quality and affordability. I'm glad to see they may be trying to get the Curado back to what it was.

I'm may buy another Shimano baitcaster and still love my Stradic spinning reels, but I have to say I've been pretty happy after switching over to Pfleuger's Trion. Not sure I'll go back now. Time will tell but at least they are headed in the right direction.
